Catching up!

Long time no see! I apologize for taking a little break from blogging. A lot has been going on both positive and negative, and I took some time to process that information. I am still processing it (does that really ever end), but I feel ready to get back on horse with the blog.

West Clermont's Symphonic 1 band performed this past weekend at OMEA Professional Development Conference. It was definitely the best performance the group has had since I joined the program 4 years ago. They played their tuning note and I started laughing. The game was definitely on! At one point in the concert I got goosebumps and tears because of the group. For as much as I get on the percussionist in the group, they sounded AMAZING. That group, and I, have spent so much time in the muck getting ready that it was incredible to enjoy hearing them play.

The Winter Percussion Ensemble had their first performance 2 weeks ago. That group is young, but is off to a very impressive start. We have way more on the floor than we normally do, and we have had some FIRE rehearsals since that first show. We go out again on February 25, and I believe it will be a completely different group in a great way.

In one of my last posts of 2022, I talked about new partnerships. I have posted it other places, but I am extremely excited to join the roster of Sabian artist and the staff of the Madison Scouts. I went to the December camp for Scouts and had a great experience. Can't wait to spend part of my summer with them.

West Clermont made an investment in upping our cymbal game with a bunch of Sabian that enhances the sounds of our marching band, winter percussion ensemble, concert percussion and concert bands. HOLY SMOKES! I have been stopped after concerts, and our conference performance, and been asked about our cymbals. I have found the sounds of each individual cymbal to be extremely versatile.

I am still on staff with Southwind for the 2023 summer as well. I am SUPER PUMPED for this group this year. The show is incredibly cool. The front ensemble interest/turnout has been better than past years. We are still looking for a few more great people that would love to join the group.

I am also with Matrix for year 11 on staff (14 total) this winter. I believe that this year will be something extremely special. We debut our show on February 18/19 at Firestone HS. You definitely do not want to miss this year.

Last thing, I just want to express my thanks to the groups I am working with this winter. Most have had their first shows (or are about to), and are off to a great start. I hope you can check these groups out this winter:

Kaleidoscope (New Philadelphia HS) Winter Guard (Soundtrack Design)
