Percussion Evaluation Rubric

Are you looking for a way to show your students what categories they need the most improvement in?  This is a rubric that I have developed over the last few years.  I have used this for my academic playing tests, as well as video assignments for world class percussion ensembles.  
 
This breaks the assignment up into 5 categories - 1) Time/Tempo, 2) Rhythm, 3) Grip (Technique), 4) Sound Quality, and 5) Accuracy/Preparedness.  Each category is then broken into 5 boxes to match the idea of marching band/indoor percussion evaluation.  Each box contains descriptors to help students understand what areas they need the most improvement in.  As a teacher, this rubric make my evaluations much more objective then subjective.  
 
This rubric could easily also be used as part of the audition process as well.
